Peru or bust!

We had a lot of fun in Key West, but after a week, we were ready to leave for Peru!  Key West is a fun place and we had some fantastic food  that is for sure, but we were not overly impressed by the beaches (admittingly we are spoiled for beaches because we have seen some of the most beautiful beaches in the world--Boracy in the Phillipines, Hawaii, Ambergris Caye in Belize, and any beach town in California :)  But the food we ate was amazing!  Seven Fish, Sarabeth's, and Cafe Sole to name a few.  The last night we ate freshly caught lobster stuffed with crab (Cafe Sole) and it was one of the best meals I have ever had! We also went to a dessert only restaraunt at a place called Better than Sex and I had the Cookie Nookie, Dan had the Jungle Fever, and we shared a cup of chocolate milk with the glass dipped in their famous homemade chocolate (they called this a Rim Job BTW!)

We also stayed at an awesome bed and breakfast called the Heron Court House and cannot say enough good things about the front desk manager, Roman.  He was one of the nicest people I've met and we enjoyed this place so much largely because of him.
We braved the bitter storms of Florida to catch our flight out Monday night from Ft. Lauderdale then flew to Lima and then onto Arequipa.  We arrived this morning and (after a long well needed nap) we set out to explore.  First Impression...amazing!  Arequipa is a beautiful city brimming with life & vitality.  The views from around the city are beautiful...

We have already made some connections here and hope to join up at the Gym/Sports Complex tomorrow as well as begin our search for an apartment.  We're finding very challenging to communicate with our limited Spanish skills (Hablamos espanol un pequeto) but people are so nice and have been great about talking slower and using gestures to help us.  It's a pretty vulnerable feeling to be the linguistic minority, I find myself saying sorry a lot and asking people how to pronounce things (como se dice...)  But all this just makes us even more eager to start our language classes.  So far...Arequipa es muy beuno!
